Bike to Wherever Day 2026
Today is Bike to Wherever Day, and for Owen and me it is not much different from any other Thursday. We ride to daycare every morning. That is just how we get around.

But today felt worth marking. Owen is old enough now that he has opinions about the ride. He picks what music plays. He waves at people we pass.

Every morning I buckle him in, he gets settled, and we head out. He loves it. He loves the movement, the wind, and watching the city. Some mornings he changes the song every 10 seconds. Some mornings he listens to the same one on repeat.

I think about what kind of relationship with the city I want him to grow up with. One where the streets feel familiar, human-scaled and where he knows his way around. The bike gives us that.
Bike to Wherever Day is a nice reminder that not everyone rides every day but every person who tries it is one more person who gets it.
I hope when Owen is older he remembers these mornings. The music, the wind, the two of us heading out into the city together. Getting to share something I love this much with him is one of the best parts of being his dad.
